1. If you're abroad on holiday
make sure that you are aware of the speeding and drinking
driving laws of the country you're visiting as these
can often be lower in foreign countries.
2. Make sure that you're tank is relatively full up before setting out on long
journeys but don't fill it to the brim as in the warmer temperatures the fuel
can expand causing the tank to overflow.
3. Make sure that your van has regular services to check that everything is
in working order.
4. Ensure that all headlights
and windscreen wipers are in good condition and don't
have any cracks or require replacing.
5. Always have an emergency kit handy in case of breakdowns. For example jump
leads, a reflective triangle and a torch.
6. Check your oil and water levels. If they are running low top these up and
carry spare bottles of these in the van in case there are any problems.
7. Check the battery connections to make sure that they are all corrosion free
and none of them are loose. However do be wary of getting any battery acid
on your skin, as this is highly corrosive.
