Ford reveals market-leading
share in van fleet market
15/01/07
Ford van insurance customers have been alerted to news that the
American automaker's fleet operations have recorded a market-leading
share in the commercial vehicles sector.
According to the blue opal, Ford Fleet gained a 38.4 per cent market
share of the commercial vehicle fleet sector in 2006, with a total
of 83,281 sales.
Ford currently offers an array of vans for commercial users, including
the Transit Connect, the Fiesta Van, the Tourneo, the Ranger and
the standard Transit model.
In addition to this, the company also revealed that strong demand
for its Focus and Mondeo models helped it to achieve the highest
market share of any automaker in the fleet car sector.
Selling a total of 206,979 cars in 2006, the American brand achieved
a 17.9 per cent market share among fleet car users.
Commenting on the figures, Kevin Griffin, Ford's director of fleet
operations, explained that it was benefiting from a revised marketing
strategy and an increased emphasis on the needs of consumers.
"These market-leading figures are the result of a strategy implemented
three years ago, one that changed the way we operate to provide a greater level
of fleet-sector management," he said.
"Different customers have different values - we consider customer's needs
individually."
"Taking care of the small things is what really matters," he concluded.
Earlier this month, Ford released details of a one-off special
edition of its long-running Transit brand, which may be of interest
to many transit insurance customers.
With a total length of 7.4 metres, the Transit XXL is 2.5 metres
longer than the standard model and features two full-sized sliding
doors on either side of the vehicle.
