Brits don’t want celebrity neighbours
28/10/05
Brits may want to read about every little detail of celebrity lives but many don't actually want to be live next door to one, a new survey claims.
Post Office Home Insurance found that 54 per cent of people would not want a famous face living over the fence.
But men who feel they could put up with the loitering paparazzi and obsessed fans say their neighbour of choice would be Jordan. Women over the age of 25, on the other hand, claim David Beckham would be ideal. Those aged between 18 and 24 say Brad Pitt would be their first choice.
Clean living Sir Cliff Richard topped the poll for the over-55s but the neighbour from hell comes straight of out Hell's Kitchen. Gordon Ramsay was the celebrity that all age groups said they would hate to live next door to.
But around five per cent of those surveyed say they already have perfect neighbours. That equates to around 2.2 million people in the UK who really are good friends with the people next door.
Phil Ashkuri, Head of Home Insurance at the Post Office, said: "It's encouraging to see so many people are happy with their existing neighbours. Of course, the best way to maintain neighbourly relations is to be a good neighbour yourself.
"No matter who your neighbours are, making sure you have adequate home insurance is vital to ensure that any issues that may affect neighbouring property, such as burst pipes, are quickly resolved," he added.
