Women drivers get safety course
15/04/08
Female drivers in Yeovil looking to keep their car insurance premiums intact may find that a new course developed especially for women helps them do just that.
An evening course entitled Women in the Driving Seat is set to take place on May 1st at car dealership Rowcliffes of Yeovil to help female motorists develop their skills as drivers as well as build confidence.
Topics to be covered will include how to deal with being alone in a deserted car park and what to do during a breakdown if another car pulls up nearby.
Female attendees will also be shown basic car maintenance skills, which could help them deal with problems without aid.
Claire Baron, Rowcliffes' marketing administrator, said: "Personal safety and security are imperative for everyone, particularly women today.
"We want them to enjoy their independence and freedom and be able to travel safely and confidently on our roads. We hope that by highlighting the risks facing women drivers, it will provide them with a wealth of information and practical advice," she added.
Ex-police Chief Inspector and human behaviour specialist Vic Botterill will be attending the event to cover a range of topics, such as how to deal with incidents of road rage.
Motorists in Thames Valley were recently given the opportunity to attend a course to help them improve their driving skills and become safer motorists.
They can sit the course as recompense for committing a road offence worth three penalty points and a £60 fine.
