Spain 'is cheapest' for motoring

Spain is the cheapest country in Europe when it comes to motoring costs, according to the latest figures.
The Motoring on the Continent report has shown that driving in Spain costs less than anywhere else in Europe.
Spain has the cheapest car hire rates, diesel fuel and offers motorists the lowest price for unleaded fuel in Europe.
Diesel costs just 94 pence per litre - 26 per cent cheaper than it is in the UK.
Car insurance customers who are planning a driving holiday abroad may be interested to know that the cheapest unleaded fuel is to be found in Switzerland, while diesel prices are highest in Denmark, the UK and Norway.
Unleaded petrol costs were most expensive in Norway, at 140 pence per litre, while the UK came halfway down the league table at 116 pence per litre.
Germany, France and the Benelux countries were all more expensive for unleaded fuel than the UK.
The results of the study, conducted by the Post Office, show that petrol costs have been rising across Europe since 2007.
Car hire costs also differ widely across borders, with the price of three days rental and fuel costs standing at £122 in Spain, compared to £248 in Greece.
However, Florida in the US represented the best value for British holidaymakers who want to drive abroad.

Meanwhile, the unions representing the tanker drivers who work for Shell have announced that they have struck a pay deal that has averted a planned strike for this week.
