Mazda announces strong February
13/03/08
Car manufacturer Mazda had announced that sales of its vehicles in Europe during February reached their highest levels for 17 years, suggesting there could be a number of drivers with new Mazdas looking for car insurance for their new motors.
According to the car company, European car sales rose by 32 per cent in February compared to the previous month, with a total of 27,300 units being sold across the continent.
This number represented a 6,600-unit rise on the same period in 2007, with the UK recording a highest-ever number of cars sold in the country during the 111-month fiscal year period from April, a six per cent increase.
In total, 42,700 Mazdas were sold in the UK during this time, out of a Mazda-wide total of 281,500, suggesting there are plenty of new Mazda drivers that could be in the market for car insurance for their latest acquisition.
Elsewhere in Europe, 20 countries recorded sales increases in February, with Mazda noting near-record performances from Denmark and Spain, while Switzerland also had what the company has described as an "outstanding month".
Overall, 15,300 more Mazdas were sold in Europe during the 11 months of the fiscal calendar from April, suggesting the marque is more popular than it was in 2006-07.
Mazda was started in 1920, with automobile production commencing in 1931, according to the car company's website.
Ford acquired a 25 per cent stake in the Japanese car company in 1979, ten years after a partnership between the two began. A joint venture between the pair - AAI - has made in excess of two million cars in the US, Mazda's website details.
