Crime-prevention equipment dished out to Ealing car insurance customers

Car insurance customers are currently being offered some free crime-reduction accessories in an area of London, it has been revealed.

This week, the Ealing Times reports that the local constabulary is running the Beat Car Crime Roadshow on Churchfield Road in Acton, car insurance customers may be interested to know.

And in addition to offering basic tips on how to avoid becoming another crime statistic, police officers have been handing out tamper-proof tax disc holders and anti-crime number plate screws on a complimentary basis.

The roadshow represents one aspect of the local police's sustained push towards cutting crime across Ealing.

According to official statistics, there was a 20 per cent drop in motor vehicle crime rates between April and May 2007, compared to the same period of 2006.

And a police statement has confirmed that officers will continue to crack down on criminals using a variety of methods.

"We continue to have great success with our proactive operations such as targeting our priority offenders, the closure of local crack houses, cannabis factories and Operation Doddery, our motor vehicle decoy initiative," it read.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that motorists who had failed to arrange car insurance cover were caught out by a recent police initiative in Essex.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times, police officers seized several vehicles found to not have valid car insurance protection during the course of Operation Malm.

Car insurance policyholders may also be interested to know that motorists who did not have a licence or had failed to pay road tax were also targeted during the crime-fighting drive.
